Music & Marauders
Welcome to the Carters' Farm Newsletter, where you can find information on farm events and produce, our favorite recipes, and reflections from the family.
The Fall Festival continues after its first two weekends of the 2024 season. It’s always a joy to see families and friends come out and enjoy the activities we’ve worked on for days, weeks, or months.
Music Weekend featured the customary Carter Junction and Abello family. And new this year were the Oxbows from Bemidji. Each played with skill and charm. As always, Music Weekend is even more special to the Carter family because it has been the time when a good share of the family gathers to enjoy the festival, eat together, dance together, and act together.
PIRATES
This year’s festival theme, PIRATES, has been fun to put on as well, with a few first-year Wagon Ride actors that have been great to work with. The skit is set during the reign of King Charles II of England, with the backdrop of a former privateer, Captain Felix Redbeard, whose crew has shipwrecked in the Carolinas and is looking for buried treasure. The Admiral’s daughter, Carlotta, has been captured as well, to be held as a hostage, since there is an order for Redbeard and his crew to be arrested.
In the giant corn maze, visitors can learn about how pirates lived, real-life pirates, and the difference between a pirate and a privateer.
There are still three weekends left of this year’s Fall Festival, so y’all come see us at the farm to enjoy an autumn day full of good fun and entertainment!
