Late Summer
Welcome to the Carters' Farm Newsletter, where you can find information on farm events and produce, our favorite recipes, and reflections from the family. We hope you enjoy!
It has been a rather dry summer in northern Minnesota, with rains coming quite rarely and if they do come, they have not been generous. This makes for a lot of work with irrigation. However, it’s been a really good year for tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet corn. Tomatoes are going strong right now and are at their production peak right now!
Our first crop of sweet corn is about done now, and our late sweet corn is coming in well too. And the corn maze and pumpkins are growing big and tall, in anticipation for late September and October.
This summer, we’ve got the self-serve stand up again at the farm, so that you can stop by during daytime hours to pick up some tomatoes.
Even though it is the height of our summer produce, we are also preparing more and more for the fall festival. This year’s theme is FAIRY TALES, in which visitors will be able to learn about folklore, fairy tales, and fables, and enjoy the wagon ride drama theater in the forest!
